Feeling the Heat - Belfast Heat and Climate Change Walking Tour
Event Description

As our climate continues to warm, the risks associated with summer heatwaves are increasing globally - and Belfast is no exception. Join us on this tour of the city as we explore the heat risk across Belfast, as mapped out by the Met Office and University of Bristol. Developed in partnership with Climate Northern Ireland, the walking tour highlights both high and low-risk areas within the city, with various stopping-off points along the way to see what makes an area vulnerable or resilient. There’ll also be plenty of time to answer your questions.

As the route is approximately 4 km long, we recommend wearing comfortable shoes and dressing appropriately. The topic might be hot, but the February weather probably won’t be!

Meeting point - The tour will begin at the tennis courts in Ormeau Park

To get to the tennis courts, three options:

  1. Car parking at Ormeau Park next to Ozone
  2. Short Strand Glider stop and Lanyon Place station are near the North entrance to the park – allow 15 and 20 minutes to walk to start respectively
  3. Bus no. 7 a/b from Europa goes to the South West/Ormeau Bridge park entrance – allow 12 minutes to walk to start from there

Please note: the tour will end in front of City Hall, so if you drive to the car park, you will have to walk back to your car.

Once you arrive at the tennis courts, look out for your guide, Alan. He will be wearing a red coat and carrying a black and white umbrella!
